Knog Frog LED Lights

Ok, so “Knog Frog” is a very unusual name but when you take a closer look at these LED lights, it suddenly all makes sense. They sit like a frog, they grip like a frog and if you squint hard enough they even look like a frog.

Encased in medical grade silicone (which is inherently waterproof and UV resistant), $country = wp_ozh_getCountryCode(0) ;

?> are a flexible alternative to fixed lights. The built-in strap stretches around bars and frames that are about 10-32mm in diameter and hooks back into itself. Easy on, easy off! It is a brilliantly simple quick-release design that allows you to take the lights off just as quickly as you put them on. Yet despite this, the lights still sit securely on the frame.

Another bonus about the Knog Frog LED Lights is their size. Its minute design makes it inconspicuous and also weighs next to nothing. You turn it on and off by pressing the top of the light – one press for on, another for flash and another for off. Flashing mode is definitely the best as not only is it more eye-catching to traffic, but it also stretches the battery life from 80 hours to a maximum of 160 hours. That’s around two and a half months if you ride two hours every single night.

But of course, when it comes to lights the main concern is visibility. The $country = wp_ozh_getCountryCode(0) ;

?> have a claimed visibility of 600m but I would also add that this would only be the case if you are cycling in an already lit up environment, e.g. in the city. If you want to illuminate the road properly, you will need some serious wattage, which means some serious batteries.

The only gripe I have about Knog Frog LED Lights (and this is really scraping at the bottom of the barrel) is that the hook used to clip them on could be a little longer as my back light has come off a couple of times when going over exceptionally bumpy terrain.

All in all, the Knog Frog lights had fantastic brightness for their size, and attached easily to my bike. In flashing mode they are hard to ignore. Pricewise, they are a little above the cheapest lamps, but nowhere near the top end.

Pros: Easy on, easy off; hardy; value for money; sleek design; good visibility

Cons: Not suitable for complete darkness; small design flaw
